You’re probably here because you have a desire to achieve something, to create something, to deliver something, or to enjoy something. Whatever your goals, you can achieve them.
You have the drive, commitment, energy and God to help you achieve your dream goals.
All you need to do is to:
1. Start with a simple goal.
2. Write it down - Just create a topic in the “Write your goals” section of the Goals Forum.
3. Share it with others - friends, peers, or if you are shy, just post it here on the forum.
4. Commit to spending just 10 minutes a day focusing on your goal, and taking action on it. Even if it is a small step, do it. Every one can spare 10 minutes. You can too!
5. Keep at it. Update your progress on your goals post on the Forum every day.
6. Celebrate Success - Every week, give yourself a reward. Celebrate your success. Pat your back for keeping at it for the past 7 days. And commit to a daily 10 minutes to achieve your goals.
7. Once you begin and achieve the habit of writing, sharing, and doing the 10 minute steps, you will come closer and closer to your goals, and will actually achieve them sooner than you expected. Once that happens, share it with us. Post your success on the forum in a new topic.
8. If you like this method, share it with others. I am sure your frieds, peers, spouse could benefit from these simple steps.
That’s it! Isn’t it simple. Just head over to the Write your Goals category, and begin your first goal right now.
Cheers!

Today, one of my articles on goal setting was published by SearchWarp, a good article directory.
How To Take a Small Step Towards Your Diet Goals and Achieve Your Dreams
This article talks about the steps you need to take to get started with goal setting in a small way. Take the first step by writing down your goals. Once that is done, you are already way ahead of the others who never take the time to think through their goals, let alone write them.
A written goal has the power to activate the subconscious mind and get it to start working and helping you to find the steps and solutions to your goals.

The new year reminds me of something… all those promises and vows and setting of new goals for the coming year… I’d go to the gym and find it crowded at my usual time, when no one used to be there. I notice a lot of new faces, begin to chat and help out a couple of them in trying to lift 5 pounds, or the switches of the treadmill. I have to wait my turn to get on with the exercises…
The next day, same new faces, and I strike a conversation with one…
Me: “How’s it going?”
“Tough man.. My shoulders are still aching from yesterday. But I want to lose these pounds, so have to stick to it”, he said, gritting his teeth.
Within 3 days, the new batch reduced in size by 50% and the 4th day, it was all gone except for 1 person. She endured a whole week. On the 8th January, I was alone in the gym at my usual hour.
What this tells is that Setting the goals is not enough. You need to act on them. To achieve some meaningful result, to get what you want, you need to put in the hard work now, do the push-ups now.
Just like to grow tomatoes, you can’t just drop the seeds and disappear. You need to return every day to water them, take out the weeds, give some fertilizers, and be there to pick the ripe tomatoes on time or the may rot.
If you take action, however small to get you one step closer to your goals, you will feel happier, your goal becomes stronger, your vision gets bolder, and your dreams get closer to you.
Athletes vying for the Olympic gold don’t just take up jogging one month before the event. They train for years - long hours, weeks and days without a break to get to what they so desire.
You need to develop the determination and the discipline to see you through the journey towards your goals. According to Horace Mann,
“In vain do they talk of happiness who never subdue an impulse in obedience to a principle. He who never sacrificed a present for future good, or a personal to a general one, can speak of happiness only as the blind speak of color.”
Don’t be a slave to your moods, your palate or your passions. Set your goals, and take the necessary action to get closer to them. Be disciplined, and ye shall reap rich rewards.

September 14th, 2007 — Motivating Quotes, Goal Setting
One of my favorite quote on Goal Setting by Murray and Goethe :
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.
I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets:
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. “ - Goethe
– W.H. Murray, The Scottish Himalayan Expedition
